Cook onion and garlic in margarine until transparent. Add tomato sauce, sugar and vinegar and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 20 minutes. Add cabbage and simmer for 40 minutes more over low heat. Mix cornstarch and ½ cup water until smooth. Stir into soup gradually and continue stirring until liquid is translucent. Add diced beef (if using), salt and pepper to heat through. Serve and enjoy. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
