Chocolate Buttercream Frosting

Ingredients:

6

tablespoons butter, softened

2 2/3

cups powdered sugar

½

cup natural cocoa (not dutch)

1/3

cup milk (2% is okay)

1

teaspoon vanilla (regular strength)

1

teaspoon cinnamon (optional)
Directions:
     
  • In small mixer bowl, beat butter

  • Blend in powdered sugar and cocoa alternately with milk, beating well after each addition until smooth and of spreading consistency.

  • Blend in vanilla and optionally, the cinnamon.

  • Add additional milk, if needed.

Hi Drew. I found your recipe archive a few weeks ago. At that time I had the urge to bake a box cake mix I had lying around. However I did not want to use the store bought variety of frosting.

Only a few websites turned up buttercream frosting recopies. And most of those were cooked frostings.

I made this recipe as stated on the website. It tasted ok. I used good
quality ingredients throughout. But, something was missing. There was none of the decadent richness associated with the frosting I have encountered in the past. I spied a bottle of Kahlúa on top the fridge and added a about 3 shots.

Et voila, there was the taste I was looking for.
